Key Staff

Routes To Work employs highly-skilled, knowledgeable and caring staff who provide expert advice on an individual & confidential basis on all aspects of getting back to work. No matter who you first come into contact with within Routes To Work, we will ensure you are provided with the most up to date and relevant advice in relation to your circumstances and where necessary, are passed onto the member of staff best qualified to help you.

All our staff operate across North Lanarkshire and we will ensure we meet with you in a venue within, or close to your local community. All services are provided free of charge and are completely confidential.

Employment & Training Access Workers

Staff who will provide you with an individual & confidential service within your community if you are not working and wanting to find a job. Whatever your circumstances - it may be you've not worked for a while, or are looking for your first job, or have recently left a job - our skilled advisers will provide you with one-to-one advice, support and encouragement on all aspects of planning your route to work. They will also advise on local learning or training opportunities where appropriate.

Key Workers

Our Key Workers focus particularly on clients who have families and are finding it difficult to return to work as a result of childcare, travel or confidence problems. Key Workers deliver similar learning, training or job finding services as outlined above, but focus on the particular barriers faced by parents and can provide tailor-made support to overcome these. Help can be provided to access free childcare services, assist with travel to training courses or work, and to re-build self-confidence & personal skills. Support can also be provided to parents in work, but who are in danger of becoming unemployed.

Health Case Manager

Our case manager can assist clients from particular areas who suffer from a disability, illness or other health condition that is currently limiting their ability to work. A health assessment service is provided after which, referrals can be made for health interventions such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, stress counseling and alternative therapies as well as support to improve health, leisure and lifestyle through our Health & Fitness Coordinator.

Health & Fitness Coordinator

Working closely with our Case manager, the Health & Fitness Coordinator offers clients an opportunity to recover their fitness through access to individually tailored fitness programmes & support and free use of local sports facilities including gym, swimming and health suites. The coordinator also offers support to improve motivation, provides free access to fitness advice, smoking cessation, weight-loss management and a range of alternative therapies.

Employer Engagement Team

Staff work with businesses, training providers, job brokers and other employability agencies to ensure that local people are given every opportunity to be matched to jobs they have a good chance of getting. Work is carried out with local businesses of all sizes to promote family friendly policies, to increase the provision of childcare places available to working parents and to raise employer's awareness of local initiatives that may help strengthen their business and the security of employment they offer.

Progress 2 Work Adviser

A specialist adviser works specifically in the Coatbridge & Airdrie area to provide help to people recovering from a drug dependency to find a route into training and employment. Individual support is provided to former and stabilised substance misusers to help them progress towards work and take care of issues which may prevent them returning to work such as housing tenancy or disclosure of offences to prospective employers.

Partnership Development Officer

A dedicated member of staff who works with other local agencies throughout North Lanarkshire to ensure that we are working together to support clients as effectively as possible. Working, signed agreements between services such as Social Work, Housing, Health Services and other community based voluntary groups are put in place to make sure that clients are transferred smoothly between agencies where the specialist services of the other agency is needed. Importantly, this ensures that clients get access to the correct individual or department who can deal with their personal circumstances and that feedback on this is shared between agencies to the benefit of the client.
