Sharon Stobbart is one client who has benefited from the SQA level 4 Employability Award: “Through family commitments of caring for my disabled daughter, I never thought that I would have the time for myself to pursue the career I had always wanted… to become Self-Employed as a caterer. I made contact with Routes to Work to discuss my goals, and I was referred to the Employability Award course, as well as a range of other employability support. The course included team building, positive mental attitude, confidence building, goal setting, REHIS food hygiene, first aid training and a range of employability support containing CV writing, business planning and interview skills.
The course boosted my confidence so much and made me believe in myself again. I discussed my idea of self employment which up until then I felt was not an option as I thought nobody would employ me. I nearly gave up on the course as my confidence was very low – but once I had the face to face chat with the team they inspired me to believe in myself. This course has allowed me to develop not only my confidence but my skills and qualifications and has given me the opportunity to make my dream a reality. I am now a Self Employed Caterer and my business is thriving thanks to all the support at Routes to Work.” With the support of Routes to Work I have fulfilled my dream of being self-employed.” |
