Cosgrove Care is a leading Scottish Charity working across West Central Scotland with children, adults and older adults with a range of additional needs, helping them to lead full loves as equal citizens within their communities.
The organisation provides a range of services including family support, housing support, outreach services, short breaks, respite and supported employment. Established in Glasgow nearly 60 years ago, we set up a satellite base in North Lanarkshire in 2017 to deliver dedicated support for older people in partnership with North Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership. Today, the charity is committed to developing a range of local services to complement commissioned services which aim to improve the lives of older people living in North Lanarkshire. Over 220 staff are currently engaging with more than 250 people across the community to help make this happen. A key part of Cosgrove’s mission is to provide employment and volunteering opportunities for people with the right skills and values from all walks of life. Sharing a building in Airdrie, therefore, has helped us form a valuable collaborative relationship with Routes to Work where we can refer potential employees interested in working in care and support provision. Since November 2017 the relationship has seen us successfully put 15 people into work for six months or more, thanks to the high quality support and training to help them succeed. It is an achievement to be proud of, and we hope to build on this success over the coming year. Darren Shore, Project Manager, Cosgrove Care Lanarkshire |
