A Wishaw based company that create steel framing systems and believe they are the answer to the construction needs of the 21st century, are looking to add a Buyer/Estimator to their busy team. Their unique, modular building systems comprise of highly engineered, structural steel frames, manufactured at their Wishaw Factory.
The system incorporates various thicknesses of lightweight gauge steel, lending itself to a wide range of bespoke design projects. 85% of the production process is completed in their factory, meaning that the building is strictly quality controlled. This also reduces costs and build time on site.
Their galvanised, lightweight steel frames are manufactured from sheet steel using conventional cold or hot rolled extrusion methods, to form the structural module profile. All modules are fitted out in their Factory are Inspected prior to delivery to site.
This is a fulltime, permanent position. Monday – Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 4pm with a starting salary of £18 per hour on offer
Key Duties and Responsibilities :
The company are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Buyer/Estimator to join their team. This dual role involves managing procurement activities and performing cost estimation for construction and manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both purchasing and estimating, with the ability to balance cost efficiency and quality.
Buyer Responsibilities:
Develop and implement procurement strategies to source materials and services.
Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms.
Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
Collaborate with production managers and Design to forecast material needs and budget requirements.
Estimator Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
Analyse project specifications and drawings to determine scope and requirements.
Create and submit competitive bids for project tenders.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to support project planning and decision-making.
Monitor project costs and provide regular updates to ensure budget adherence.
Essential Criteria :
Proven experience in procurement and cost estimation within the construction or manufacturing industry.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in estimation software and procurement tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Criteria :
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
Experience with project management software.
Certification in procurement or cost estimation (e.g., CIPS, AACE).
