A community owned centre based in Newmains with charity status, who’s aim is to provide services and activities to the community of Newmains and surrounding areas is looking to recruit a part time Caretaker, based within the centre and part of a team of facility staffs.

The expected hours will be 16 - 20 p/week with overtime offered when required by the business. They operate across a 7-day week, so weekend working is a feature of this job and therefore flexibility is required.

The shift rota is variable dependant on the services, activities and private functions we have booked in.

Hourly rate for the role is £12.00

Key Duties and Responsibilities :

To be responsible for the security of the premises ensuring all windows are closed and doors are locked, and alarm activated at the end of the day.

General cleaning of the occupied areas, toilets and surrounding area

To inspect the interior and exterior of the building for general cleanliness daily.

To conduct a weekly check for any defects and malfunctioning equipment, reporting defects and where possible making good any defects where appropriate.

To complete weekly fire and security testing and report as per procedures.

Carry out preparation for functions and meeting and returning of rooms for everyday use on completion of booking.

Assist user groups with setting up of rooms were necessary

Safe storage, use and disposal of caretaking/cleaning materials the safe usage and storage of associated equipment.

To ensure all relevant inspection or other paperwork is completed as required.

To ensure adequate quantities of toiletries are available in toilets as required.

To comply with centre policies and procedures including health and safety.

To undertake any other reasonable task as determined for operational needs.

Essential Criteria :

Full drivers licence and regular access to a car, Good team work , Good written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Criteria :

IOSH trained, COSHH trained, First Aid trained
