The gym assistant role will be part time (min 16 hours a week) with different shifts throughout the week including 6am-2pm, 5pm-10pm weekdays and 7-12pm, 3-8pm weekends. Shifts can vary depending on the needs of the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities :

Our popular and growing company is looking for a gym assistant.

To fulfil the purpose of this role, the successful individual will take great pride in their work. They will hold a flair for presentation and be passionate about creating positive experiences and memories for our valued members and guests. You’ll have excellent communication and organisational skills, strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities and the ability to work cohesively as part of a team.

You’ll consistently provide welcoming and professional services to our members and guests in accordance with Gym24 operational standards, in a gracious and professional manner whilst ensuring guest safety at all times. You will engage with all members and guests to identify opportunities to make their experience memorable through experiences and offerings available on site.

Present professional appearance and positive, engaging attitude and maintain a high standard of customer service. Assist members and guests with use of the gym facilities and equipment while promoting events and services. Maintain an attendance register for all sporting and fitness facilities. Assist staff in equipment set-up/disassembly and cleaning for gym activities.

You’ll ensure all equipment is sanitised and operated in accordance with the operating instructions. To ensure bulletin boards are up to date with recent and upcoming flyers and know the benefits and prices of gym services so as to be able to up-sell. Report to the supervisor/manager /maintenance personnel on faulty equipment. Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility, and act appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.

Maintain locker areas to a high standard. Complete the daily checklist for changing rooms, gym areas, and public spaces, and carry out any other reasonable request as deemed necessary by Senior Supervisor/Management

Serve coffees and protein shakes at our protein bar to a high standard that will be set out.

Desirable Criteria:

We need you to be well presented in your appearance, reliable and keen to deliver Customer Service excellence.

A flexible, enthusiastic and organised approach to work coupled with an ability to multitask is advantageous as the challenges of any particular day can and do vary.

A genuine passion for the fitness industry along with the ability and willingness to learn is essential.

Qualifications to be gained :

Modern Apprenticeship in Hospitality Services SCQF Level 5
