Are you 16 or over and interested in starting a career in construction?

A fantastic work experience opportunity is available on the New Monklands Hospital site, giving you the chance to gain valuable exposure to a major construction project and find out what working in groundworks and civil engineering is really like.

You will be completing your placement with a large Tier 1 construction contractor, gaining insight into the standards, teamwork and health and safety practices expected on a major construction site.

What will you experience?

Depending on the works taking place during your placement, you may gain exposure to areas such as:

• Groundworks and civil engineering

• Site preparation and construction activities

• Working safely as part of a construction team

• Tools, equipment and machinery used within groundworks and civils

• Understanding site plans and different construction roles

• Health, safety and environmental procedures

• The day-to-day working environment of a major construction project

This is a work experience placement, so you will be supported and supervised while gaining an understanding of careers within the construction industry.

Who are we looking for?

This opportunity would suit someone who:

• Is aged 16 or over

• Has a genuine interest in construction, groundworks or civil engineering

• Is reliable, enthusiastic and keen to learn

• Can follow instructions and take health and safety seriously

• Is comfortable working outdoors in a construction environment

• Can attend early morning site starts

• Can reliably travel to the New Monklands Hospital site

• Meets the site's CSCS card requirement for this opportunity
