This role typically requires working 40 hours per week hours vary depending on client schedules and locations. Shift Patterns: Cleaning assignments may involve fixed or rotating shifts. Shifts could include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overnight work, depending on client needs. Schedules will be provided in advance to ensure adequate preparation time. Breaks: Employees are entitled to a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and a 15-minute paid rest break during each shift, subject to operational requirements. Overtime: Overtime work is subject to prior approval and will be compensated according to company policy and applicable employment law. Attendance and Punctuality: Punctuality is essential to meet client expectations and maintain efficient service. Employees must notify their supervisor promptly in case of absence or lateness. Health and Safety: Employees must adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and clients.

Hourly rate for the role is £12.60


Key Duties and Responsibilities :

As a Cleaning Operative with window cleaning and driving responsibilities, you will be expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness across assigned areas and safely transport yourself, equipment, or team members to and from job sites. Your duties will include but are not limited to:


General Cleaning Duties:

• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and polish floors in designated areas.

• Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures.

• Clean and disinfect toilets, washbasins, showers, and other sanitary areas.

• Empty and dispose of waste and recycling bins in accordance with site procedures.

• Replenish cleaning supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.

• Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained in good condition and report any faults.

• Safely use, handle, and store cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.


Window Cleaning Duties:

• Clean internal and external windows, glass doors, and glass partitions using appropriate tools (e.g., squeegees, extension poles, or water-fed pole systems).

• Achieve streak-free finishes and ensure safety while working at height.

• Operate ladders and access equipment safely and responsibly.

• Report any window damage or access issues to management.


Driving Duties:

• Hold a valid UK driving licence (or applicable regional licence) and drive company vehicles as required.

• Safely transport cleaning equipment and team members to various work locations.

• Carry out basic vehicle checks (fuel, tyres, lights) and report any vehicle faults or incidents immediately.

• Adhere to all road safety regulations and company vehicle policies.

• Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle.


Health and Safety Compliance:

• Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Report any accidents, hazards, or unsafe practices immediately.

• Ensure all cleaning and driving activities are carried out safely and professionally.


Professional Conduct:

• Maintain a courteous and professional manner with clients and colleagues.

• Respect client confidentiality and property at all times.

• Follow schedules and complete tasks within allocated timeframes.

• Accurately complete daily checklists, timesheets, or digital logs as required.



Essential Criteria

Full Valid Driving Licence:

· Possession of a full, clean UK driving licence (or local equivalent).

· Confident and competent driving company vehicles to and from job sites.


Physical Fitness:

· Good physical condition with the ability to carry equipment, climb stairs, and perform repetitive manual tasks.


Reliability and Punctuality:

· Consistent attendance and ability to arrive on time for scheduled shifts

· Strong sense of responsibility and dependability.


Flexibility:

· Willingness to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on client needs.

· Ability to adapt to different work sites and environments.


Communication Skills:

· Ability to follow instructions clearly and communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients.


Right to Work:

· Must have the legal right to work in UK.



Desirable Criteria:

Experience in Cleaning:

· Previous experience in general cleaning duties desirable but not essential as full training will be given

· Familiarity with cleaning procedures, equipment, and cleaning agents if applicable.


Window Cleaning Experience:

· Experience in internal and external window cleaning using traditional tools (e.g., squeegees) and/or water-fed pole systems preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

· Comfortable working at heights and access equipment safely.


Understanding of Health & Safety:

· Awareness of COSHH regulations and safe use of cleaning chemicals full training will be given.

· Commitment to working safely, wearing appropriate PPE, and following company policies.

Qualifications to be gained :

1 Level 1 Certificate in Cleaning Principles

· Covers essential cleaning techniques, chemical safety (COSHH), infection control, and hygiene standards. Nationally recognised and suitable for general cleaning roles.

2. Health and Safety in the Workplace

· Provides knowledge of basic workplace safety practices, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.

3. COSHH Awareness Training

· Focuses on the safe handling, storage, and use of hazardous substances used in cleaning.

4. Manual Handling Training

· Teaches correct lifting and moving techniques to avoid injury when handling equipment or waste.

5. Working at Height Training

· Covers safe working practices, fall prevention, and correct use of PPE and fall arrest systems.

6. Water-Fed Pole Window Cleaning System Training

· Practical training on the use of telescopic water-fed systems for high-level window cleaning from the ground.

7. BICSc Certification (British Institute of Cleaning Science)

· Recognised industry body offering modular training in best practice cleaning methods and standards.
