Company Profile

A Motherwell based company who are a Miller and UK Contract packer of Dried Pulses, Cereals, Pasta, Rice, Pulses and Rice and Corn Flours supplying UK foodservice, retail, and manufacturing markets are looking to add a Production Operator to their busy team.

The successful candidate will be offered a full time 39 hours per week permanent contract, with an hourly rate of £13.45.

Currently the role would be: On site: Dayshift: Mon – Thu (8am – 4:30pm) Fri (8am – 3:30pm)

The purpose of this role is to support manufacturing and packaging of food products in a safe, hygienic, and efficient manner. This role involves packing products, operating production machinery, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring all tasks comply with food safety regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities :

· Produce required products meeting company and customer standards to planned volume and schedule.

· Process and package food products according to specifications.

· Set up, operate, and adjust production and packing machinery in line with production requirements.

· Complete production and quality control paperwork as required. Including batch records, weight checks, label checks, metal detections checks, traceability logs and quality checks.

· Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all work areas maintained, ensure all hygiene / cleaning procedures / records are always adhered to. A clean as you go policy is a requirement of all staff.

· Conduct quality checks and report any issues or defects.

· Ensure compliance with food safety standards and company policies.

· Ensure all finished foods are correctly labelling and meet company and customer standards.

· Follow strict allergen control procedures to prevent cross-contamination.

· Assist with line changeovers, including cleaning and re-setting equipment.

· Label and store products correctly.

· Report any faults, hazards, or non-conformances to supervisors promptly.

· Work as part of a team to meet production targets and deadlines.

· Maintain a safe work environment by conforming to H&S and food safety procedures.

Essential Criteria

· Previous experience in food production or manufacturing.

· Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.

· Food hygiene certificate – preferred.

· Knowledge of BRC within the food industry.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Good attention to detail.

· Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

· Ability to follow instructions and procedures.

· Reliable and punctual.

· Ability to work well as part of a team.

· Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.

Desirable Criteria

· Forklift License / experience.

· Food hygiene certificate level 2.
