COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
A tearoom and giftshop in Condorrat Cumbernauld are looking for a versatile and enthusiastic Tea Room & Gift Shop Assistant to join our vibrant team. You will support the day-to-day operations of both a busy tearoom kitchen and our retail space. This is a highly hands-on role that requires a passion for food preparation, exceptional customer service, and the flexibility to work during peak trading times. Part time and possibly full time hours (negotiable) are available, hourly rate for the role is £13.45
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kitchen & Food Preparation
Cooking & Baking: Assist in the preparation, cooking, and baking of hot and cold meals, snacks, and sweet treats according to our menu standards and recipes. Daily Prep: Handle food preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, and organising ingredients for both our dine-in tearoom and retail customers. Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene across all preparation and cooking areas. Stock Rotation: Ensure correct storage of deliveries, practice effective stock rotation, and check use-by dates to minimise waste.
Front of House & Customer Service
Customer Care: Greet customers warmly, offer menu recommendations, and provide excellent service at the counter and tables. Beverage Service: Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold drinks (including coffees, teas, and specialty beverages). Cash Handling: Operate the till, process cash and card transactions accurately, and manage the till float. Shop Assistance: Assist retail customers in the gift shop as needed, including answering inquiries and displaying merchandise.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in a café, tearoom, or similar fast-paced hospitality and catering environment is highly desired. Flexibility: Must be highly flexible and available to work weekends, school holidays, and especially during the busy Christmas period. Food Hygiene: A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred, or a willingness to complete training upon hiring. Customer Skills: A friendly, positive "can-do" attitude with excellent communication and cash-handling skills.
