COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Based in Bellshill, the company was established in 2014, with the aim to assist individuals & businesses with all their asbestos needs & help them to comply with asbestos regulations. They are UKAS accredited (No. 9102) for Asbestos Bulk Analysis, Sampling of air for fibre counting, and 4 stage clearance process. They provide Asbestos Testing, Surveying, Air Monitoring and Consulting services nationwide.
Trainee Asbestos Laboratory Analyst
Salary: £11.44 per hour (national min wage). Salary will be reviewed after successful completion of the training
Hours: Monday to Friday- full time will be 37.5 hrs per week 9 to 5 & Part time- 9.30 to 2.30 – depending on candidate but the employer prefers part time candidate. Location: Bellshill, Lanarkshire
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities Will Include: - Completing asbestos bulk analysis whilst working towards a P401 qualification; Following procedures to ensure the quality standards are met; Once fully trained, Participate in Quality Control Schemes both internal and external; Daily admin tasks in laboratory, learning Alpha tracker software; Proactively engaging in training and development; Supporting the business by working flexibly and responsively from the laboratory; Being proactive to ensure that work is delivered on time.
Essential criteria: Minimum of GCSEs; Analytical skills: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret laboratory results; Attention to detail: ability to follow strict procedures and analyse microscopic details; Communication Skills: Ability to communicate findings effectively; IT Proficiency: Familiarity with basic computer software, Microsoft office etc; Ability to work under pressure: Maintaining accuracy in fast paced environment and following samples turnaround times; Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with colleagues and follow instruction precisely.
Desirable criteria: Previous Laboratory Experience: Any experience in a lab or analytical role is beneficial but not always required. Knowledge of Asbestos Regulations: Awareness of asbestos-related health and safety laws (e.g., Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 in the UK). Microscopy Experience: Understanding of polarized light microscopy (PLM) or phase contrast microscopy (PCM) is an advantage. Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe working practices in a laboratory setting. Other considerations: Full UK driving License
